San Diego County EMT Pre-Employment Workshop
Course Overview:
This course is designed to prepare newly certified Emergency Medical
Technicians for work in San Diego County. The course has been developed
with the assistance of many local private ambulance agencies and local
fire departments. Students will receive instruction in the following:
- Overview of San Diego County Protocols
- Patient Assessment and Scene Management
- Ambulance Operations
- Map Reading
- Hospital Locations
- Lifting and Moving
- Radio Communications
- Documentation
- San Diego County BLS Skills overview
- HAZMAT – First Responder Awareness (State Certification)
- Advanced Airway Training (Combitube®/King® Airways)
- Interview Techniques
- Resume Writing
As part of the program, many local private ambulance agencies
will be visiting the students over the course of the week. Students will
have an opportunity to speak directly to and interact with people in the
EMS community, many of those in a position to hire.
Requirements for admission:
- Updated Resume
- Emergency Medical Technician – Basic Course Completion Certificate and /or
- National Registry EMT Certification and /or San Diego County Certification*
* not required to attend the class.
