The Advanced EMT course is a comprehensive program consisting of classroom, skills lab, clinical and field components. The curriculum follows lesson plans adapted from the EMT-Intermediate National Standard Curriculum.
Students who successfully pass the course and Skills Testing will be eligible to become accredited by San Diego County EMS as an Advanced EMT. Upon completion and successfully passing all requirements, students will be issued a course completion card and skills verification form which are needed for accreditation through San Diego County Emergency Medical Services. The Advanced EMT in San Diego County are allowed to perform the following skills (per B-327):
• ETAD (Combitube) / Pharyngeal (King) Airways
• Blood Glucose Monitoring
• Administer the following medications: Nitroglycerin, Aspirin, Glucagon, Albuterol, Narcan, Epinephrine
